JACQUELINE STAHL

Jacqueline graduated magna cum laude in English from Cornell University and has a Master's degree in clinical social work from Bryn Mawr College. For a decade as a psychotherapist, she actively listened to people tell intriguing, inspiring, and sometimes horrifying stories about their lives. Although Jacqueline does not write directly about her clients, she is indebted to them for deepening her awareness of the human experience and for showing her how humor can make its way even into some of the most distressing situations. Her years as a psychotherapist prepared her beyond expectation to be a screenwriter.

Now, Jacqueline writes screenplays to remind people that the human spirit includes awesome kindness, and this kindness is a perfect weapon against any number of social ills.

Her first screenplay, Near Death Tango, won the Philadelphia Screenplay Festival (2009) and the Hollywoodscript.com Screenplay Contest (April, 2008). It was also a quarterfinalist in the PAGE International Screenwriting Awards (2008).

Craig Kellem, screenwriting consultant and former developmental executive at 20th Century Fox TV and Universal Studios, calls Near Death Tango "American Beauty-esque." He says, "This is a rich, moving screenplay with very strong dialogue, characters that jump off the page and lots of deep, moody themes. [It] has that special something that we always look for but cannot usually find. A rare combination of sad, funny along with smart, hip and deep, ever so honest, relatable, and tragically hilarious. You'll love this material. Will make an incredible film."

Jackie's second screenplay, Doublewide, will be finished in the Spring of 2010.

Jackie is represented by Jim Kellem at JKA Talent and Literary Agency.
